News Death Notice
SZOSTEK, Benjamin C. 92 our loving patriarch of five generations is with his loving wife and God now. A Polish Catholic from Manayunk, PA, who worked in Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corp prior to joining the US Army and retiring as a Master Sergeant with 20 years of service. His other five brothers also joined the military with two serving in the US Marine Corp, two in the Army, and one in the Merchant Marines. He later retired from Georgetown University in building maintenance. He was also a member of the VFW Post 1031. He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes in 2002; brothers Merch, Mooney, and Frankie Szostek; and his sister Eleanor Pinkos. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Jim Burton; brothers Edward and Joseph Szostek; four granddaughters Melanie Sprinkle, Nena and Pete Reed; Nicia Burton; Wendy and John Fitzgerald; six great grandchildren Jim and Ashley Sprinkle, Dylan Newsom, Josie and Maria Reed, Darby and Dalton Ballard; and four great-great grandchildren. Services will be Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10:00am in the Rose Hill Burial Park Chapel with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating, where family and friends may call one half hour prior to services. Memorial contributions are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300 Jacksonville FL, 2256.
