News Death Notice

FIPPIN, Patricia Anne 83, of South Charleston, died Wednesday evening, July 11, 2012 in Forest Glen Health Campus following several years of failing health. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Ralph H. and Anna Mildred (Mills) Garcelon. Pat was a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Education. Following her graduation, she taught at the Indian Springs School District, Columbus for several years. Taking a few years away from teaching to raise her children, she then returned to teaching as a substitute for the Northeastern School District, Clark County. She was a member of the United Church of South Vienna and the D.A.R. Pat was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed gardening and sewing. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Dr. William C. Fippin; four children, Kristin (James) Ries of Horicon, Wisconsin, William H. (Christine) Fippin of Springfield, Kimberly (George) Hoessley of Columbus, and James (Elaine) Fippin of Wadsworth; two sisters, Diane (James) DeMuth of Columbus and Carolyn (Thomas) Fuscaldo of Bellville, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Erlewine, Emilie Fippin, Kari (James) Strassburg, and Amy (Travis) Heller; three great grandchildren, Eli and Evan Strassburg and William Heller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A service in celebration of Pat's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the United Church of South Vienna with Pastor Scott Griswold officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the United Church of South Vienna, 227 E. Main St., South Vienna, OH 45369.
