News Death Notice

THOMPSON, Norma Jeann 79, of Springfield passed away Monday February 24, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born May 17, 1934 in Findlay, Ohio, the daughter of Carey G. and Florence (Katzenmeyer) Moore. Norma was a member of VFW Post 3660, and she enjoyed sewing, crafts, Ohio State football, and bus trips to casinos. She had been employed at the Masonic Home and as a greeter at Meijer, and most recently at the VFW Post 3660. Survivors include daughters, Peggy Palmer and Denise Hamilton, Springfield; grandchildren, Heather (Robert) Hart of Lafayette, IN, Heidi Muterspaw of Urbana, and J.D. Palmer of Springfield; great grandchildren, Cody Williams and August Argy, Lafayette, IN; sister, Karen Long; brother, Carey Moore; both of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews, including Rhonda (Danny) Hamilton, Joshua McMann, and Nikki Beller, all of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Leanna Jo. A celebration of Norma's life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday in the VFW Post 3660. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norma Thompson Memorial Fund at any Springfield branch of PNC Bank.
