News Death Notice

ADAMS, Madge C. 91, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday evening, March 5, 2014 in her residence. She was born in Shelby County, Ohio on August 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Harvey and Maude (Nicewonger) Nissley. Madge attended The Ohio State University. Her work career began as an office manager and secretary for businesses in Dayton and Chagrin Falls, as secretary to business manager, Manfred Holck at Wittenberg University, and later at the offices of Drs. Newman and Ercan. A long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Madge volunteered tirelessly as social ministry chairman, evangelism chairman and secretary on the church council, deacon, teacher of Alpha and Omega Sunday school class, co-chair of the Yuletide Festival, chairman of the annual garage sale, and was a member of the kitchen staff. She also volunteered at Mercy Medical Center in the surgical department. Madge is survived by a son, Dan (Doris) Casebolt of Springfield; granddaughters, Deborah Hartman of Springfield and Heather Elliott of Texas; grandsons, James (Andrea) Casebolt and Roger (Kelly) Casebolt; great grandchildren, Keaira Hartman and Arielle Elliott; former daughter-in-law, Jan Elliott; and a special niece, Cynthia Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Adams in 1994 and a sister, Agatha Putnam in 2013. Madge's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor John Pollock officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Her pallbearers will be Richard Smith, Michael Adams, Troy Adams, Tavis Adams, Tracy Carr, and Virgil Harris.
