News Death Notice

KROHN, Roger Lincoln 84, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in Naples, Florida. He was born on February 12, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of Gilbert and Gladys Krohn. He started in the steel business in 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. He received many promotions as a sales manager in Michigan, northern and southern Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Then in 1975 he founded Krohn Steel Service Center in Springfield, Ohio. After numerous expansions he merged the company with Metals USA. At the age of 80 he retired to Naples, Florida with his wife Marilyn. Roger was a member of the VanDyke Club and an avid fan of Ducks Unlimited. He was a very charitable man supporting the Springfield Symphony, the Kuss Center and the Springfield Cancer Center and numerous community organizations. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Marilyn Brown Krohn. Additionally he is survived by his three children and their spouses, Linda & Steve Elliott, Roger & Barbara Krohn and JoAnne and Rick Stuttman; his sister Jean Hartert; seven grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. His parents and brother, Gilbert Krohn, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 1 pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 409 E. High Street, Springfield, Ohio.
