BISHOP, John Milner "Jack" 80, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2014 in his residence. He was born October 15, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Rev. K. Jay and Isabella (Milner) Bishop. John's career started as a paperboy at the age of twelve. At sixteen, he began working part-time in the mailroom at the Springfield News and Sun. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1953. In June of 1955, he became a full time outside sales representative and retired from this position in November 1995 only to return part-time until April 2008. He remained very grateful to the News and Sun for giving him the opportunity to enjoy a lifelong career doing a job he loved. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Mary R. (Maxwell) Bishop; daughters, Debra (Michael) Parmley of Bartlett, Tennessee and Kimberly (Robert) Lear of Urbana; grandchildren, Wayne and Joshua Parmley, Jeremiah Engle and Maggie Lear; sister-in-law, Martha (Harvey) Beahm and nieces, Jennifer (Doug) Green and Julie (Brian) Blankenship; special cousins, Charles Imhoff, Rev. David Imhoff, Steven Imhoff and Virginia Simpson and many friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore and special cousin, Rev. Roger Imhoff. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday from 12 p.m. 1 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Daniel M. Powell officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. The family would like to express thanks for the loving care given them by all at Community Mercy Hospice, who saw them through this extremely difficult time.
