News Death Notice

CAPPS, Scott A. age 83, of Springfield, Ohio formally of Dayton, Ohio, passed away at Essex of Springfield, Ohio on July 11, 2014. He was born September 8, 1930 in Claybourne County, Tennessee and is a 1950 graduate of Powell Valley High School; after which he served three years in the U.S. Army. Scott is the son of the late Lon & Myrtle Capps of Powell, Tennessee. A brother Mitchell Capps and a sister Cleo Ferguson both of Powell, Tennessee preceded him in death. Surviving are wife, Sandra Capps, daughters Vickie Smith and Debra Capps-Abshear, both of Dayton, Ohio; stepson Richard Heck of Athens, Ohio; stepdaughter Lori (David) Ballentine of Zephyrhills, Florida; five grandchildren; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Also surviving are brothers Frank (Maggie) Capps and Kyle (Judy) Capps and sister Else (Earl) Robinson all of Powell, Tennessee; sisters-in-law Mildred Gruntz of Indian Lake, Ohio and Linda Badgley of Springfield. Scott was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Springfield, Ohio; Ohio State Trapshooting Association, Pioneer Club of Dayton, Ohio; Florida Shufflers Association and Ohio Shufflers Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Scott was retired from AT&T, Dayton, Ohio after thirty-three years service, retiring in February, 1990; after which he and his wife became Florida Snowbirds for twenty-three winters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME on North Limestone Street with Pastor Kermit Rowe officiating. Visitation will be one hour preceding services. Burial at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens following services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Liberty Baptist Church, 5470 Springfield Jamestown Rd, Springfield, Ohio 45502 in memory of Scott. The family would like to thank Essex of Springfield; Dr Narcelles; Dr. Sullivan; Dr. Bo; Dr Khanna and Hospice for their kindness and assistance during Scott's illness.
