HAYNES, Virgil J. 68, of Springfield, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 3, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio the son of the late James M. and June P. (Epley) Haynes. He retired from Navistar after 40.3 years and worked for the past 7 years with E.M.T. Incorporated (non-emergency transport). Virgil was a member of Fellowship Christian Church and served with the children's ministry, but more recently he was a Core Team member of Fellowship Limecrest. Several years ago he was a youth Pastor at Enterprise Baptist Church and later Newson Missionary Church. He loved spending time with his family and going hunting during deer season and also liked to fish. One of his favorite activities especially with his wife Betty was to go camping around the eastern part of the country. He is survived by his wife Betty of 49 years, one son and daughter-in-law, David and Shaunda Haynes of Urbana, two daughters and sons-in-law: Christina and Jeffery Lehman of Springfield, and Bethanie and Jeffrey Smith of Enon; 12 grandchildren: Ethan, Samantha, Zach, Tyler, Hunter (and fiance' Zach), Trey, Jasmine, Jordan, Austien, Montanna, Montgommery, and Masonn; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Roger and Sue Haynes of New Carlisle, Eddie and Vicki Haynes of Urbana, and Ray and Karen Haynes of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Christian Church, 2301 Valley Loop Rd, Springfield. Burial will be in the Enon Cemetery.
