News Death Notice

TUCKER, Fred Lewis 92, of Washington Court House passed away Monday August 18, 2014 at Dayton VA Hospice. He was born January 14, 1922 in Ocilla, Georgia, the son of Elijah and Mary Alice (Griffin) Tucker. Mr. Tucker was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Europe during World War II. During his service time, Fred was a driver for General Patton and he carried the American flag across the English Channel. He had been employed at Irwin Auger Bit Company in Wilmington, Ohio and was the owner of Model Cleaners in Springfield. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Tucker; children, Kim Whaley of Gilbert, SC, Kari Risley (Keith) of Beavercreek, OH, Fred Lewis (Sissy) Tucker, and Green Elkins (Laura) Tucker, all of Jacksonville, FL; step-son, Matthew (Shannon) Marietta of Lancaster, OH; grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Jeremy, Amanda, Jacob, and Jacqueline; great-grandchildren, Adreana, Zane, Elijah, Alayliah, Jayden, Alanna, Xiluss, and Gavin; sister, Madge Roberts of Ocilla, GA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters; great grandson, Landon; and son-in-law, Frank Whaley. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will follow at 8:00pm.
