DAVIS, Lawrence E. "Bill" 84, of Springfield passed away at Heartland Rehab of Springfield Saturday morning, April 21, 2012, after six weeks of serious illness. He was born in Springfield on November 4, 1927, the son of Robert H. and Hazel F. Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Andrus; and a brother, Robert Davis. Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Doris Davis; three children, Terri (Jim) Fraley, Ft. Lauderdale FL, Bruce Davis, DeSoto TX, and Gary (Kathleen) Davis, Rushsylvania OH; four grandchildren, Kari (Brett) Griffith, Kim (Scott) Whitlock, Chanci (Eric) Zucker and Kaci Davis; ten great grandchildren, Zach, Meg, Logan, Ethan, Mason, Madison, Kamryn, Chance, Sebastian and Jennifer; two sisters, Ruth King, Bellefontaine OH, and Ginger (Dean) Bobst, South Charleston OH; brother Charlie (Barbara) Davis, sister-in-law Patty Davis, and brother-in-law Dwight (Annie) Elliott all of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He retired from Navistar in 1981 after 34 years of service. He attended Hillside Church of God and was a US Army veteran.
