Wanda BARKER Obituary

News Death Notice

BARKER, Wanda D. 92, of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 12, 2012. She was born on December 6, 1919, in Wrigley, Kentucky, daughter of the late Greenberry and Ada (WIlder) Reynolds. Wanda was a member of the Hillside Ave. Church of God and retired from Mueller Residential Center. She was also a seamstress which she did for numerous years and she also loved gardening. She loved to help others and was always there to lend a helping hand. Wanda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John D. Barker; son, John Barker Jr.; step-father, Estille Mays; 2 sisters, Della and Delphia and brother, Bernard. She is survived by her three children, Delmer (Charlotte) Barker and Donald (Sandy) Barker and Evelyn "Abby" (Jim) Murray; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma and Rozena; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME-Springfield. A celebration of Wanda's life will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Michael Criner officiating. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Miami Valley, 46 North Detroit Street Xenia, OH 45385 or Hillside Ave. Church of God, 2021 Hillside Ave. Springfield, OH 45503.
