News Death Notice

CALL, Harold D. 88, of South Charleston, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. He was born December 28, 1923 in Wood County, Ohio, the son of Delbert O. and Leora (Corn) Call. Mr. Call graduated from South Charleston High School. He then joined the United States Navy where he served aboard the U.S.S. Guam. Following his tour of duty in the Navy he returned to South Charleston. He was the owner of Call's Shell Station and worked at Oliver Manufacturing, Wilson Freight and was retired from Keystone Lines. While driving truck he became a member of the Million Mile Club for safe driving. Mr. Call was a former Mayor and City Commissioner of South Charleston. He was a member of the American Legion, the V. F. W. Post 8673 and the Teamsters Local # 659. Survivors include his wife; Saralyn "Sue" (Smith) Call, six children; Stephen (Karen) Call and Gayle (Bob) Johnson, Springfield, Doug (Sharon) Call, Moyock, North Carolina, Michael W. Call, Orlando, Florida, Rhonda (Marvin) Frable, Pennsylvania and John Call, South Charleston, nine grandchildren; Peter (Aundrea) Robinson, Shawn (Jennie) Johnson, Brittany (Eddie) Tores, Spencer Powers, Amanda Kritzwiser, Leah Kritzwiser, Anessa Kinnaird, Marie Kinnaird and Aimee Stitt, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother; Alfred Call and his parents. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Lott officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, South Charleston.
