Lowell PEDERSON Obituary


News Death Notice

PEDERSON, Rev. Lowell Chester 77, of Springfield, passed to his heavenly home October 15, 2013. Lowell was born in Elk Rapids, Michigan, on January 26, 1936 to Percy and Vera (Barnes) Pederson. He graduated from Elk Rapids High School and Michigan State University. Following graduation from Michigan State, Lowell was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in Newfoundland where he became a Christian. After his discharge from the Army, Lowell was an accountant until he enrolled in Trinity Lutheran Theological Seminary. As a Lutheran Pastor, he served churches in Sidney, Michigan, Ravenna, Fostoria, Ashland, and Mansfield, Ohio. Lowell married Carol Huber Pederson in 1964 and they had two children, Cathy and Alan Pederson. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Lily and Kate Pederson; sisters, Alice Rogers and Jean (Mike) Rust; brothers, Marvin (Betty) Pederson and Brice (Wilma) Pederson; and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a brother, Larry. Lowell was a member of First Lutheran Church, Lions Club and volunteered at Springfield Regional Medical Center and the Rainbow Table. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to the memorial service. Bishop Suzanne Dillahunt and Rev. Bruce Kramer will preside at Lowell's memorial service which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in First Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, 30 S. Wittenberg Ave., Springfield, OH 45502 or the Rainbow Table, c/o St. John's Lutheran Church, 27 N. Wittenberg Ave., Springfield, OH 45502. You may express condolences to the family at www.littletonandrue.com

Second cousin of Lowell I want to express my condolences to all of his family in the US.
I am so happy to have achieved contact with his daughter Cathy and hope to get to know other descendants from his grandfather Tobias Rikard Pettersen.
