Arthur Robert "Geeter" HORNSBY

HORNSBY, Arthur Robert "Geeter" who passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, was born in Tampa on Nov. 28, 1936. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 18th, 11 am, at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 North Howard Ave. Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. He studied Computer Technology at Harris College in Trenton, NJ. Upon graduation, Mr. Hornsby moved to Trenton, NJ, where he remained for over 50 years. He served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War. During the 60's and 70's, his love of music and singing led he, his best friend, Al Harris and friends to organize a band called "Little Bobby Williams and the Soul Shakers. He was employed at the Fairless Steel Corporation (Subsidiary of U.S. Steel) in Fairless, PA, serving as a skilled worker and foreman, over 30 years until retirement. After retirement, "Geeter", also known as "Sarge", moved to Beaugart, GA, where he resided for the last 5 years. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hornsby; sisters, Ruthie Mae Harper & Marion Hornsby; nieces, Sandra Davis (Julius), Sharon Simms, Linda Harrell (Ray); nephews, Antonio Hornsby, Henry Giles Jr., Perry Giles, Billy Giles (Tina), Chris Mahone, Rawn Hornsby (Samantha), Leonard Freeman (Renae), Gregory D. Hornsby Sr. (Christine) & John Coley; nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends. Remains will repose from 4-7 pm, July 17th, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave. Arrangements entrusted to Ray Williams Funeral Home, Rhodes & Northern, Owners.
