Dr. Bishop Benjamin Franklin ECHOLS

ECHOLS, Dr. Bishop Benjamin Franklin passed on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at 73. Funeral services are Saturday, April 6th, 11 am at Greater Love Christian Center, 1109 N. Franklin St., Plant City, FL 33564. Interment at Florida National, Bushnell, 11 am, April 8th. He was born in Carlton, GA, May 16, 1939. He was a 1958 graduate of Howard W. Blake High School. He attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA, after which he joined the U.S. Army and served his country for 20 plus years, & received honorable discharge at rank of Sergeant First Class. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Trinity University of San Antonio, TX, Bachelor of Arts at Faith Theological Seminary, and Doctorate in Divinity at Union Bible Institute in Durham, NC. He is founder of Greater Love Christian Center. Bishop Echols married Massalena Feb. 9, 1991; they had 2 sons, Benjamin G. Echols (Victoria) & (the late) Von Lee Echols. Massalena brought 2 daughters, Barbara Joyner (Moses) & Shawanda Spencer (Ronnie); 2 sons, (the late) Reginald Britt & James Britt. Preceded in death by parents, James Linton Echols & Mariah Geneva Robinson Echols; brothers, George W. Echols & Dr. Larry N. Echols. Survived by wife & children; grands; great-grands; brothers, James Echols (Jeannie), Melvin Echols (Art), Joseph Echols, Terry Echols (Carolyn); sisters, Doris Tillman, Earnestine Best & Anna Carlton (Earl). Remains repose after 5 pm, April 5, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave, family will receive friends 6-7 pm.
