
GREENE, Claude Earle 92, born Aug. 30, 1920 in Anderson, South Carolina, died Feb. 23, 2013. Son of Helen and Judge G.B Greene, served in
WWII as a P-51 fighter pilot, awarded Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He attended Clemson University. Married to Mary Delle Findley Greene 63 years. Survivors include wife, Mary Delle; sons, Earle & wife Melody, Bob & wife Mari, Ben; daughter, Sara & husband Edwin; 7 grandchildren; & 5 great-grandchildren. He served as St. Petersburg city councilman 1967-1971, as President of St. Petersburg Board of Realtors, and in many other leadership roles including President and co-founder of Gulf Oceanographic Charitable Trust that continues to provide annual research scholarships to USF graduate students. Claude was a committed Christian serving many years as a deacon in his church. Claude was a man of unfailing good humor who never met a stranger and always had a smile and a positive word of encouragement for all he met. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at North East Park Baptist Church, 3737 1st St. N.E at 3 pm, visitation at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to N.E Park Baptist Church or Suncoast Hospice.
