Donald Clarence "Don" EDWARDS

EDWARDS, Donald Clarence "Don" 93, passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2013, in Largo. Don was born on July 25, 1920 in Thornloe ONT, Canada.He married Daisy Ida Ward on Sept. 20, 1940.They lived in Haileybury, ONT, and New Liskeard, ONT before moving to Largo with their 4 children in 1960.Don was a World War II veteran, fighting with the Algonquin Regiment of the Canadian Army.He was a long-time, active member of the Largo Kiwanis Club and an independent insurance adjuster in Largo for many years.He retired in 1974 to manage his real estate investments.Don is survived by 2 sons, Dean (Wendy) Edwards and Ward (Felecia) Edwards; his daughter, Deborah (Rick) Pettey; 8 grandchildren, Kevin, Tyler, Katrina, Nicholas, Kindall, Liam, Julianna & Grace; and 1 great-grandson, Aiden; 1 sister, Myrtle (Eric) Campbell, ONT, Canada.44 days after his beloved wife of 73 years passed away, he joined her. He was also pre-deceased by his parents; 1 brother, Kenneth (Ann) Edwards; 1 sister, Gwendolyn (Norman) Webb, and his son, Ronald James Edwards. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation" in every sense of the term. "Dad, we'll miss you, but we understand you wanted to be with Mom."Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Boulevard, Clearwater, 33760.A memorial service for both Donald and Daisy Edwards will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at 2 pm at Unity Church of Clearwater, 2465 Nursery Road, Clearwater, FL 33764.
