Donald H. Becker

BECKER, Donald H. of St. Petersburg, was called by God to heaven on Dec. 25, 2012. He was blessed to have a loving wife of 66 years, Joyce Becker, and 5 children: Donna Dummann, Barbara LeGrant, Nancy Pooré, Donald Becker, Jr., and Gayle Fay. His pride and joy was his family, which included 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. His proudest moments were when the family gathered all together. He enjoyed singing "You are my Sunshine" to his grandchildren when they were young and telling them stories of the past when they were grown. His face would light up with a big smile whenever he spoke of his children and grandchildren. He was always delighted to speak of their accomplishments. Donald was born and raised in Munising, MI. He was honored to serve in the United States Army Air Corps and was a veteran of WWII. He attended Allegheny Teachers College and the University of Missouri. He moved to Florida in 1961 when he was employed by the Jewel T Company and later owned two businesses: Open Pantry Store Franchise and Terry's Answering Service. He enjoyed many trips to Fort Desoto Park and Sawgrass Lake Park with his loving family and treasured drives through historic downtown St. Petersburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. He will forever be remembered on Christmas Day as the family gathers to celebrate the holiday and his life.
