Emily L. BARROSO

BARROSO, Emily L. beloved mother and grandmother, had her last curtain call on Jan. 20, 2013. Emily was born April 15, 1931 in New York City. She moved to Tampa in 1950 where she resided until her passing. Emily was a patron and participant in the arts, particularly musical theater. She was a talented singer and thespian, beginning her career at the age of three. She performed in a variety of productions, including off-Broadway shows and numerous community theater productions, including Arsenic and Old Lace, Zorba the Greek, The Doctor in Spite of Himself, and Fiddler on the Roof, receiving wide acclaim for her performances. Her love of the theater was surpassed only by her love of family. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Castellano; her children, Dee Q. Agganis (Harry), Marrisa Barroso Jagger (Kenneth), and Gustavo Barroso; her grandchildren, Jason J. Quintero, Kasey Lynn Jagger, and Kenneth Lee Jagger, Jr.; and several loving nieces and nephews. A character in life as well as on the stage, Emily's quick wit and joie de vivre brought joy to all who knew her. The world is truly a lesser place with her passing. The family expresses their sincere thanks to Drs. Raul Sierra, Kevin Sierra, and Albert Tawil for their professional skill and compassion in caring for Emily. The family will receive visitors on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 from 6-8 pm at JGR Funeral Home, 6718 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa, FL 33604. Requiem Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3012 W. Cherry Street, Tampa, FL 33607 on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at 11 am with interment to follow in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emily's name to the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road Tampa, FL 33618. Please send online condolences www.jgrfuneralhome.com
