DE MAESSCHALCK, Henry "Hank", almost 90, born April 21, 1923, died April 3, 2013. Hank came here in 1950 from his native Detroit. Locally, he was a general contractor, did woodcarvings, captain, and sailing instructor. He built and sailed his 29 foot Morgan Design Tiger Cub boat for 40 years. He was a lifelong addicted sailor. Hank was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, a Lightning sailor, and crewed F.O.R.A. and S.O.R.C. races, Cuba and Mexico. He was an Army infantry veteran of WWII and Purple Heart recipient. He will be remembered for his hearty laugh. Hank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice; daughter, Joy (Kurt) Shallen-burger; sons, Rick and Mark (Nancy); sister; Babe Lester; and grandchildren, Celine and Michael. A private service will be held where Hank's ashes will be scattered at sea according to his wishes. Grateful appreciation for the excellent care he received at Bay Pines CLC for 6 years, many thanks.
