Rev. Fr. John BUGA

BUGA, Rev. Fr. John 87, of Port Richey, died Feb. 24, 2013.His life was centered on his Christian faith as a Byzantine Catholic Priest and his family.He is survived by his wife, Violet; daughters, Nancy (Bryan) Fisher and Jenny (Tom) Bricco; sons, Mark, Edward (Jacqui), Peter and Paul (Leivi); 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Fr. John was born in Aurora, IL. An orphan at 13, he later served his country in WWII in the Pacific Theatre as a Seabee. He was then employed at Northern Illinois Gas Company for 36 years. Fr. John was ordained a priest by the Most Reverend John Michael Botean on June 17, 1999. He served the people of Byzantine Catholic churches as a deacon and priest in Illinois and Florida. He served in a soup kitchen, as a hospital chaplain and in the Knights of Columbus in Aurora, IL and Port Richey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Emma Buga; and brothers, Gabriel and Louis (Julia) who raised him. Fr. John lived an exciting, full life and persevered to the end. May his memory by eternal. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Anne Byzantine Catholic Church.Viewing and visitation today from 4-6 pm with Panachida at 6 pm at St. Anne Byzantine Catholic Church.
