DE ARMAS, Ligia E 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2013. Born in Colon, Panama. She obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Michigan State University. Devoted mother, wife, and teacher at former Balboa High School in former Panama Canal Zone. Retired here in Tampa in 1980. She was a longtime member of Bayshore United Methodist Church, loved to entertain in her home, and always be surrounded by family and friends. Her most important mission in life was to educate and unite people in Christ. Preceeded in death by her husband, Louis De Armas of Tampa. Survived by son, Louis De Armas, Jr, of Tampa; daughter, Christina D. Nelson of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Roxanne, Monica, Ryan, Zach, and one great granddaughter, Sophie. There will be a celebration of her life Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 10 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home Chapel, 4207 East Lake Ave., Tampa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bayshore United Methodist Church, 3909 S.
