Col. William B. HOLWICK

HOLWICK, Col. (Ret) William B. 85, a resident of Clearwater, passed away on Dec. 19, 2013 in Clearwater. He retired from the army with over 32 years of service including WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He moved to Clearwater in 2003 from Colorado after being a seasonal resident for 20 years. Col. Holwick was born in Chicago to William M. Holwick and Mildred M. Maxfield, who are deceased. He graduated from the University of Illinois with his BS in commerce and law and later went on to Syracuse University to obtain his Master's degree. His first wife, Margaret of 49 years predeceased him in 2001. In 2005 he married Mary Ann Giles. He was a proud member of the Largo Elks lodge, the American Legion post , and the Military Officers Association. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; two sons, Rev. William D. Holwick (Celeste), of Ledge-wood, NJ, and Col. John S. Holwick (Kyong) or Springfield ,VA; a daughter, Kristin L. Gerber (Ret. Col. Roger) of Weisbaden, Germany; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a date to be determined. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the and Hospice.
