James Houghton Obituary

HOUGHTON, James Lowell passed away on Feb. 24, 2011. He lived in Tulsa, OK and was a frequent winter visitor to St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara, and children Beth Anne Houghton and her husband, Scott Wagman of St. Petersburg, and their children, Eric, Michael and Melissa, Scott Houghton and his wife Joanmarie of Damascus, Maryland, and their children, Ashley and Glenn, and Mark Houghton of Washington, D.C. Jim was an avid golfer, having won state titles in high school and playing varsity golf for the University of Kansas, where he earned his degrees in business and law. He had a distinguished career as an oil and gas specialist and Regional Tax Partner with Arthur Young & Company, later Ernst & Young. Jim was active in the Tulsa community as the member and officer of numerous boards. From 1990, until his death, Jim served as a trustee of The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation of Tulsa. In St. Petersburg, he supported Great Explorations, the Houghton-Wagman Children's Museum and the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Tulsa at 2 pm on Monday, March 7, 2011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Great Explorations or the St. Petersburg Free Clinic.
