Nicholas Lawrence MEVOLI III

MEVOLI, Nicholas Lawrence III age 32, was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, due to Pulmonary Edema, during a freediving competition in the Blue Hole, Long Island Bahamas. Born in Mease Hospital, Dunedin, and for the past 8 years lived in Brooklyn, NY. Nicholas was the son of Belinda and Fred Rudzik, and Nicholas Lawrence Mevoli Jr. Grandson to Nicholas Lawrence Mevoli Sr. (pre deceased) and Natalie Mevoli, Joseph Owsiank (pre deceased) and Josephine Owsianik, brother to Jennifer and Joe Sharpe, Kristine and Katie Rudzik, uncle to Elizabeth and Alexandra Sharpe Nephew to Dr. Paul and Terri Mevoli & Nancy Graham, cousin to Scott Simpson, Laurie Buzzard, David and Ashley Mevoli, and friend to all. Nick was fun-loving and kind, a free spirit who enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He loved his family, friends and being in the water. He was a hard worker as an assistant prop master as well as a focused athlete with an unstoppable drive. Nick was an inspiration to many, including his fellow free diving community members. Nick was a positive light in the lives of all those he touched, and even those with whom he had the briefest of encounters. A humble man, he truly enjoyed people and sharing their lives. Always ready with a helping hand, Nick was selfless. During his many visits for competitions at the Blue Hole he assisted at the local St. Peters and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Clarencetown, Long Island Bahamas. He shuttled elderly and school children as well as helped in rebuilding their church roof damaged in a hurricane. We are grateful for the time, albeit short, that we had with him, and we will miss him very much. All proceeds will go to St. Peter's and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Clarencetown, Long Island Bahamas to finish rebuilding the church on the island he loved. Funeral services will be as follows: Viewing on Tuesday, Nov. 26th, 5-8 pm, held at Brett funeral Home, 4810 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.
