SIBLEY, Paul L. M.D. (OB-GYN) formerly of St. Petersburg, died at the age of 53, on Dec. 19, 2009. He was born and raised in Daytona Beach, FL. He was a 22 year resident of Ocala, FL where he resided at the time of his death. He succumbed to complications of a stroke. Paul graduated from Seabreeze High School, Daytona Beach, in 1974, FSU 1978 and Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN in 1982. He completed his OB/GYN residency at University of Florida in 1986. He had been a Daytona Beach News Journal paperboy with his 2 older brothers for 8 years as a teenager and was a surgeon and gynecologist in the St. Petersburg and Tampa medical offices at All Women's Health Center for 21 years. Paul's hobbies and interests included power boating, hunting and marlin fishing. He was an avid, life-long NASCAR, FSU and NFL fan and loved thrift stores but especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fishing and boating. Paul was a lifetime member of the AMA, the Florida Medical Association and a life-long member of the Billfish Association. Paul is survived by his brother Dr. Mark Sibley, M.D., Ophthalmologist, Florida Eye Center in St. Petersburg; and 2 sisters, Dale Sibley Preist Ryals, (Dr. Dick), Ormond Beach, and Jill Sibley Butler, R.N., Daytona Beach; a nephew, Dr. Paul A. Sibley, DO, St. Petersburg/Philadelphia, (Mary); and one niece, Laura Sibley Perkins, St. Petersburg/New York City, (Matthew). Paul was predeceased by his brother Dr. Craig Sibley, M.D., OB-GYN, St .Petersburg/Ft. Myers. Paul's wishes were to have memorial funds established in lieu of flowers. They include the American Leukemia Society, Central FL Chapter, 3319 Maguire Blvd. # 101, Orlando, FL, 32803, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, MD, 20814, , P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312, American Sign Language Association, ASL Access, 4217 Adrienne Drive, Alexandria, VA 22309 and the University of Florida Brain Center, U.F. Foundation, P.O. Box 14425, Gainesville, FL 32604. Paul is also survived by numerous long-time friends and co-workers. His presence will be abundantly missed by all. The motto he lived by was: live, laugh and love. Six words that sum up Paul's life would be: family, friends, boating, hunting, fishing, thrift shops. The celebration of Paul's life will be held at Tomoka Oaks Country Club, 20 Tomoka Oaks Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL on Feb. 27, 2010, at 2 pm in his honor.
