A. Cline Obituary

CLINE, A. Bruce 86, of St. Petersburg, peacefully passed away under the care of Hospice on Monday, June 6th, 2011. Bruce was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Cline. Bruce was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to New York at the age of 3. He came to St. Petersburg in 1941, where he attended St. Petersburg High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1943, in which he served our country with valor with the first wave invasion on Iwo Jima and continued service in the South Pacific Theater. He returned to St. Petersburg after the war and enrolled in college at FSU, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Nolen, and married in 1949. He transferred to the University of Florida, where he received his Masters degree in Education and taught Industrial Arts at South Side, Bay Pointe Middle School and retired from teaching at Seminole Middle School in 1984, after 36 years in education. He so much enjoyed teaching students how to create and build. Bruce was the President of Seminole Civitan in 1970, a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. Bruce was a man's man and loved to hunt and fish with his sons and friends. He was a member of Seminole United Methodist Church and past member of the Treasure Island Yacht Club. Bruce was a wonderful husband, father and friend to all, who enjoyed life to its fullest. Bruce is survived by his two sons, Richard B. Cline of Seminole and Dennis Cline of Dunedin. Bruce had four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Douglas Collins of St. Petersburg. The family wishes to express deep and sincere thanks to all his wonderful friends and a special thanks to Suncoast Hospice. There will be a visitation on Friday, June 10th from 5 pm until service time at 7 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33709.

Bruce was my father-n-law for many years. He was a very kind and generous man. Great sense of humor. Something that wasn't mentioned in the obituary is what a great cook he was. A trait that both his sons have inherited.
I wish the family peace during this difficult time.

I enjoyed viewing the photos of Bruce with sons Dennis and Rick, as well as the photos with Connie, whom Bruce loved and shared his life with for 31 years. My condolences to all of Bruce's family, friends and loved ones.

Sorry to hear of Mr.Cline's passing. I have fond memories of shop class at Southside in the early 60s. I still have a sail boat I made in his class and it occupies a prominent place in my home. Rest in peace sir.
