Dear Warren and Family;

Remembrance of
Charles W, "ANK" Ankerberg

Those we love
remain with us,
for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade
because a loved one’s gone.

Those we love
can never be
more than a thought apart,
for as long as there is memory,
they’ll live on in the heart.

Warren Ankerberg:
As I listened to your memories of your Dad in church this morning I remembered the many things we shared over the years we knew each other. Hearing you talk as a loving son I stared at his casket and these thoughts flowed through my mind. Let me share them with you and your family.
"Charlie, the man, is THERE just a few feet from where I sit. He lived in that body for more than 88 years before he gave it back to his creator. We say he died because most of us think in those terms---life or death. We mourn because it's our tradition, not for him, but for us. We gather to honor him, remember him and perhaps eulogize him. We speak of things we learned from him while he was among us. His parents knew him as an infant, child, young man and adult. His wife, Irene, knew him as a husband. His children knew him as a father and provider. I knew him as a friend, navy buddy and brother QB. But even though Charlie, the man, is gone, and it is our right us to grieve for our loss, the SPIRIT of Charlie Ankerberg will never die. It simply returned to GOD and will be remembered by those of us as long as we remain here on earth. Me? I was proud and honored to know your Dad and one day, some place, some time...we will meet again."

To Warren, Jan and family - I'm so sorry to hear of your father's death. He was always ready to drive our "float" in our parades, wasn't he? I'm sure he had as much fun as we did. It's nice to have fond memories-you and your family are in my prayers.

Charlie Ankerberg was a big man to the Burke family in St. Petersburg.

His involvement with support clubs at St. Paul's, Bishop Barry as well as the Boy Scouts influenced Bob, Mike and Brian Burke. We have wonderful memories of Charlie. Our parents, especially our Dad, enjoyed Charlie's wonderful personality and generous nature.
