BUTTS, Dan Paul 63, of Palm Harbor, died June 17, 2013 from a tragic accident while cutting down a tree at his property. He was born in Walhalla, SC on May 13, 1950, the only child of Willis and Evelyn Butts. The family moved to St. Petersburg in 1957. Dan graduated Boca Ciega High School in 1968 and years later became a successful Allstate agent where he worked for more than 35 years. Dan married Cynthia Denise West in 1974 and they had four sons. Dan was a prominent member of the community and very active in coaching soccer and baseball in the Palm Harbor youth league. He enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, traveling, snow skiing, hunting, hiking, fishing and spending time with his family. Dan is survived by his mother, Evelyn; his four sons, Jason (Sabrina) Butts, Jeremy, Joshua (Kristin) Butts and Jonathan (Alyssa) Butts; grandchildren, Kate, Anna, Kallie, Alex, Riley and Kolton; and his longtime companion, Beverly Drew, her son, John (Eva) Drew, daughter, Jamie Drew and her grandchildren, Bailey and Liam. Services will be held on Sunday June 23rd at 2 pm at the Rheba Sutton White Chapel in downtown Palm Harbor, 1190 Georgia Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA in his memory.
