David Earl PETRIKIN

PETRIKIN, David Earl 48, of Concord, CA, died suddenly in Oakland, CA March 17, 2013 from complications following surgery. David was born Feb. 1, 1965 in St. Petersburg. He is survived by parents, Earl and Carolyn Petrikin of Clearwater; sister and family, Karen and David Dundes; nieces, Carolyn and Katherine Dundes, Walnut Creek, CA; aunts, Mary Berryman and Bonnie Burt; great-aunt, Janet Ober; and his cousins. David also leaves behind his very best canine friends, Elmer, Luccia and Marrucio. David graduated in 1983 from Countryside High School, Clearwater. While at Countryside, David played saxophone and flute in the marching, symphonic, and jazz bands and was a Drum Major during his senior year. David attended Furman University, Greenville, SC, where he received a B.S. Degree in Music Education in 1987. Following graduation, David taught music in Atlanta and later in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After many years as Business Manager for Michael Marrero and Associates in San Juan, he worked for Amgen in Juncos, PR until 2010 when he transferred to Fremont, CA. At the time of his death, David was employed by Boehringer Ingelheim, Fremont, as a Human Resources Specialist. While attending college, David rescued his first dog, Giovanni. Over the years, many dogs shared his home. David lived life to the fullest, with total enthusiasm for everything he did. His vitality and adventurous spirit will be missed by family and friends who loved him dearly. A memorial gathering will be held in Martinez, CA, Saturday, April 6th.
