CAMERON, Donald Walter age 90, of Tampa, passed away Jan. 14, 2013, after a brief illness. Donald was born in New York City on March 13, 1922 and lived there until he transferred to Tampa in 1965. He began his career as a U.S. Customs Inspector in New York and retired in 1986 in Tampa. Donald served in the U.S. Army during World War II from May 1943 until Feb. 1946. His first wife, Margaret Leonard Cameron, preceded him in death in 1995 and his son, John in 2000. He is survived by his children, Ellen Cameron, of Melbourne, Donald Cameron, of Atlanta, GA, Margaret Petti, & Laurie Cameron; grandchildren, Nicholas Huckabee, Jeanette, Margaret, Cynthia & Marion Cameron, and Tyler & Saorise Keel. He married Veronica Bokman Gillmeister Cameron in 1996 & they lived in Middleport, NY, in the summer & Tampa in the winters. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus & 4th Degree Knight. He held several offices during his membership. He served on the board of the Morningstar School of Tampa for several years, President of the Dad's Club of Tampa Catholic High School, & volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital. A Funeral Mass for the repose of his soul will be held on Friday morning, Jan. 18th, at 10 am, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 5225 N. Himes Ave, with Monsignor Laurence E. Higgins, PA, Pastor Emeritus, officiating. Cremation will follow. Family will receive friends Thursday evening, Jan. 17th, 7-9 pm, Catholic Prayer Service begins 7:30 pm, at chapel of JGR Funeral Home, 6718 N. Armenia Ave, Tampa.
