COX, George, 84, of Temple Terrace, FL, passed away April 18, 2013. He was born on July 12, 1928 in Atlanta, GA, and was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Cox & Bessie Quattlebaum Cox. He was married to Margaret Haugdahl in Jacksonville on May 19, 1951. They had 4 children. He graduated from University of Florida in 1950 with a degree in Education and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. George served in the Army for 2 years, a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was employed by State Farm Insurance as a District Manager for 39 years. George was a founding member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and member of the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed traveling, reading, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. George will be remembered by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret, and their children, Helen Townsend (Jack), Mark Cox (Kristin), Katie Neill (Chuck) and Matthew Cox; 3 sisters, Pat Cladianos, Kathryn Hardy (Dick) and Angela Kirby (Rick); 8 grandchildren, Light, Jake, Bear, Cassio, Megan, Brigette, Kathryn & Mackenzie; & 1 great-grand-daughter, Mahniya. All funeral services will be held at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, Temple Terrace. Visitation from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, and memorial service at 10 am, Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Interment with Military Honors will follow the service at 2 pm at Florida National Cemetery.
