George Looney Obituary

LOONEY, George Hobson Jr. the youngest child of George & Icie Mae (Criner) Looney, born in Walton, WV on Oct. 19, 1923. He graduated from Walton High School and attended West Virginia University. As a young Army Air Corps Officer he protected our country during WWII, flying the P-51 over Europe and again during the Korean Conflict. After his military duty, he became successful in business and finance, and eventually moved to Pinellas County. He loved fishing and family gatherings. He is survived by Cora (Allman) Looney, his wife of 66 years; daughters, Durenda Fachtmann of Dunedin, Barbara Christine and son-in- law Michael Christine of Clearwater, Tina Carter of Cairo, GA; granddaughters, Beth Small and her husband Campbell Small, Lauren Truluck; great-grand-daughters Kyndall and Reese Small. He is also survived by his sister Cynthia Hazeline Sinnett of Gulfport. George passed away peacefully at his home on May 31, 2011. Viewing was held at Curlew Hills Funeral Home on June 2, from 6-8 pm. Services will be at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church today, June 3, at 2:30 pm. Following the service, burial will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater. Curlew Hills Funeral Home. 727-789-2000
