BURGHARDT, Harry White "Mr. Harry" 77, of Safety Harbor went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday Nov. 13, 2012 at Bay Pines VA Hospital. Harry was born in Abington, PA and moved to Treasure Island in 1944. He was an applications engineer with Sperry Microwave in Oldsmar and later Trak Microwave in Tampa before retiring from Component General in 1995. Harry served in the U.S. Navy as a Fire Control Technician on the U.S.S. Taylor DD/DDE 468 from 1951 to 1957. Harry was very involved with his church family. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Safety Harbor and drove the church bus for 35 years. He was also very active in Safety Harbor community. Harry was a board member of the Kiwanis Club, Paint Your Heart Out Safety Harbor, and Care Fest Tampa Bay. He was a volunteer on the Bounty, rode with the Florida West Coast Motorcycle Club, played drums with Liberty Fife and Drum Corp., and was voted a "Treasure of Safety Harbor." Harry was preceded in death by his parents Joann Elizabeth Burghardt and Arthur Whittlesey Burghardt, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lynne Williams Burghardt of Safety Harbor; daughters Debra Castro and Lisa Lewis of Taylorsville, NC; stepchildren Sheri Hensley of Texas and Scott Williams of Valrico; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday Nov. 16th at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday Nov. 17th at the First Baptist Church of Safety Harbor, 525 14th Avenue South, Safety Harbor 34695.
