SMITH, Helen Flora A celebration of life for Ms. Smith of Tampa, who departed this life on Dec. 1, 2012, will be held Saturday, Dec. 8th, 2 pm at New Bethel A.M.E. Church, 915 East Okaloosa Ave, Tampa. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Helen was born Oct. 11, 1939 to the late Charlie Baltimore & the late Aretha Howard Amica in New Berry. She moved to Tampa in the 1950s with her Aunt, the late Mattie Grant, whom she lovingly called "Momma." Upon her arrival in Tampa, she moved to the Sulphur Springs area where she resided for most of her early years. Helen received her education in Hillsborough County Public Schools. She worked at the University of South Florida as a Housekeeping and Auxiliary Services Supervisor, happily retiring in 2001 after 32 years of dedicated service. Helen served as a steward and choir member at New Bethel for over 50 years. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her daughter, Mary Ann Haynes; son, Walter James Smith Jr.; a sister & two brothers, Mary A. Jones (William); Louis Charles Amica (the late Naomi) & Charles Amica; sister-in-law, Geraldine Baltimore; grands, Chandrea Cornell (Kevin); Walter James Smith, III, Parren Jay Smith; and Earl Wilmond Haynes, II ; 6 great-grands, Alexis, Jalen, Jordan, Isaiah, Jaylon & Marcus; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. The remains will repose after 5 pm, Dec. 7th, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave. The family will receive friends from 7:30-8:30 pm.
