RAABE, John E. 86, died on June 18, 2013. John will be missed by his family. Before joining the Army at 16, John was scouted for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He served during WWII in the First Armored Infantry and was awarded the purple heart, silver and bronze stars. John worked as an agent in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He then moved on to gain a Phd in Geology. He worked as a geologist, archaeologist, and teacher. After retiring, he remained active, giving lectures, teaching, and donating artifacts. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 25th at 1 pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with military honors. Brewer & Sons. 352-596-4991
