DIEHL, John W. 88, peacefully passed away at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills, FL, on Oct. 16, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary; daughter, Patricia Dolly; grandsons, Todd, Brent, Colin; and great-grandchildren, Brendan, Briana, Kaitlyn, Tyler, and Owen. He resided in Syracuse, NY, before retiring from Carrier Corporation as head of the photography lab, and moving to Florida. He served in World War II in the Navy, as a Signalman while a member of the Armed Guard, and also during the Korean Conflict. He was a 60 year member of the Liverpool Syracuse Lodge No. 501 of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was a past president of the Limestone Creek Hunt Club in Cazenovia, NY, where he was an avid rider with his daughter, Patti. He was a sportsman who loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. He had a passion for travel and vacationed and cruised around the world. Private burial will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Donations to Gulfside Regional Hospice, Inc. in Zephyrhills, FL, would be appreciated. Whitfield Funeral Home in Zephyrhills, FL, is in charge of arrangements.
