STURKS, Joseph of Tampa, departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at 12 pm at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 North Howard Ave. Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery. Joseph was born on May 15, 1949 in Tampa, to the late Ida Mae and James Sturks, II. He was also the godson of the late Unidella and Joseph Green. He graduated from Middleton High School in 1967. In 1968, he joined the United States Air Force, became a sergeant, and was later honorably discharged. Joseph lived in New York City for a number of years until his request was fulfilled to relocate to Tampa on Aug. 25, 2012. He loved watching football games. His favorite teams were the New York Giants and the New York Jets. He also loved watching the Nature channel and other historic programs on television. Joseph touched everyone's life with his love and caring for others. He leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Joseph J. Williams & Russell Laws; 1 daughter, Shannon Sturks of Tampa; 2 sisters, Frances Lovett-Grantham, and Mary Sturks; 2 uncles, Donald Sturks and Joe Sturks; 2 aunts, Venilla Randolph and Inez Goff; a loving niece, Michele Mitchell; 4 nephews, Eddie Mitchell, Jonathan Mitchell and Mark Mitchell, and Edgardo Prado; 15 grandnieces and grandnephews; devoted friends, Rebecca Laws and Rhonda Williams; best friend, Mike Sarik. The remains will repose from 4-7 pm, Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N.
