DUFF, Joyce Livingston "Jadee," 64, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January
26, 2008, in Houston, Texas.
She was much loved by her family and friends, who will miss her dearly. Joyce was born June 26, 1943, to Conchita Vega Livingston and James Doss Livingston Jr. in Miami, Fla. She was raised in Tampa, and attended Wilson Junior High and Plant High schools. Joyce is a direct descendent of Senor Jose A. Escalante, who was a pioneer cigar manufacturer, founding the "La Corina" cigar factory in Palmetto Beach, Fla. The Escalante family was very important to the cigar industry and history of Ybor City, as well as that of New Orleans, La. Joyce was very proud of her Spanish heritage. She attended finishing school at Howey Academy in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., and went on to be a success in whatever she put her mind and efforts to. She was an ambitious entrepreneur, whose interests were many and varied. Most recently, she had really hit her stride as an oil painting artist. She was a member of the Galveston Art League, and was enjoying success in the sales of her artwork. Her greatest joys were that of being a wife and mother. She is survived by her son, Ramon "Tyler" McGee, and his wife, Hana, of Prague; her loving husband, Thomas A. Duff of Seabrook, Texas; her devoted mother, Conchita Vega Horner, and stepfather, Kenneth "Jack" Horner of Tampa; her brother, James D. Livingston III of Alabama; her sister, Conchita E. Horner of Tampa; her sister-in-law and best friend, Sue Gore, and her husband, Ronnie, of Lake City, Fla.; her aunt, Martha (Marti) Vega Boyles of Tampa; her cousin, Jerri Lynn Munger, and her husband, Steve, and cousin, Michael Munger, and his wife, Xiao Wei, all of Atlanta, Ga.; her sister-in-law, Marilyn (Horner) Bozak, and her husband, Rob, of Tampa; her in-laws, Barbara (Duff) and Guy Skipper of Ocala, Fla.; her
stepson, Donn, and grandsons Adam and Logan Duff; her step-son, Gil, and his wife, Teresa Duff, of Cincinnatti, Ohio; her niece, Tracy Gore Bozzetti, and her husband, Domnick, of Jacksonville; and her nephews, K.C. Horner and his wife, Courtney, Ramon D.Horner II and his wife, Natalie, and Eric D. Horner, all of Tampa. Joyce was blessed with many great nieces and nephews, whom she is survived by, Hunter and Avery Bozzetti, Trip and Trenton Horner, and Payton and Avery Horner. Joyce was predeceased by her father, James D. Livingston; and her beloved, brother, Ramon DeWitt Horner of Tampa. For all the richness and blessings that comprised Joyce' s life, the saddest truth was the unexplained disappearance of her daughter Kimberly Rae Doss in 1979, at the age of 16, from Jacksonville, Fla. Kimberly' s whereabouts remain unknown to this day. She would be 45 yrs old. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, in honor of Joyce' s search for the truth and in remembrance of the lost Kimberly Rae. With your help, the family' s search for answers will continue.
