SMITH, Michael J. "Mike" a Tampa native, Mike was born April 4, 1939, died Sunday evening, Aug. 25, 2013. He attended Hillsborough High School from 1954-1957, where he was a standout football player earning him a scholarship to University of Florida where he also was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. Mike's love for the Gators was passed on to his family, which have had season tickets for 36 consecutive years. Mike had a long career as a Salesman in the Lumber Industry He was preceded in death by his father, Tip Smith; his mother, Ruby Smith; and sister, Cheryl Smith Jolly. He is survived by his loving family wife, Judith A. Smith (Judy); daughter, Denise Smith Carlin; his son, Michael W. Smith and son-in-law, James J. Carlin. Mike will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 29th, in the evening from 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Aug. 30th, at 10 am. Services will be held at the Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa.
