SAKKIS, Nick J. 95, a lifelong resident of Tampa, passed away on June 29, 2013. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Nick was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a founding member of St. John Greek Orthodox Church, where he served on the Parish Council and as Parish Council President. He was also the chairman of the Building Committee for the Kourmolis Center. Nick held the office of President of the AHEPA Lycurgus Chapter (Tampa) and also the distinction of being the chapter's longest standing member. He was a founder & owner of Hillsboro Coffee Company for 55 years. Nick was an avid golfer & played into his nineties. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Helen. Nick is survived by his son, Johnny (Katherine); daughter, Patty McTague (Neil); and his grandchildren, Tasha Sakkis, Nadia Sakkis, Lauren McTague Compton (Welty), Nicholas Sakkis; four great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Lula Milonas. He will be truly missed & in our hearts forever. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation & thanks to his devoted caregivers, Zoila, Ana & Yolanda. Funeral services will take place July 3rd, 2 pm, at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 2418 Swann Ave, Tampa, internment following at Garden of Memories.
