Rick and I went to graduate school together at USM and later worked together at the MS Marine Conservation Commision. He was director and hired me to be his Assistant Director. We were close friends and did a bit of fishing and hunting together and drank a few beers. He was a great guy! He passed too young. RIP!

I just learned of this last night. I can't believe it! I'm so sorry. As you know, Rick and I went to graduate school together at USM and worked together in Mississippi. We also went fishing a number of times. Having recently attended Tom McIlwain's funeral, this hit me really hard. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

To Rick's Family: I had the pleasure to work with Rick directly while consulting for the Council in the early 2000s until I moved to DC, and am saddened to learn that he passed away suddenly. I'm very sorry for your loss. Rick was always a gentleman, professional, respectful, and remained cool/level headed in different situations. I know he will be missed.

Cyndy, I am so very sorry to learn about Rick passing. Rick and Ron Lukens and I all spent part of our youths in Mississippi and we all knew some of the same people there. We always had such a great time when we got together and talked about our experiences growing up there. He will certainly be missed.
