WOOD, Robert "Woody" 73, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012. He and his wife, Alma moved to Leesburg in 2003 from Indian Rocks Beach. Born in St. Joseph, MI, June 11, 1939, son of Raymond and Pansy (Smith) Daniels. Robert was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Leesburg. He was a re tired Engineer for the Hillsborough Hospital Authority, Tampa, served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Robert served as the State Commander of the VFW from June 1995 to June 1996. Robert was a Life Member of the D.A.V. Chapter 13 of St. Petersburg. A life member of V.F.W. Post 4300, Sebring, member of the Commander's Club of the D.A.V. A member of the Military Order of the Cooties since 1982, member of American Legion Post # 0252 of Seminole, member of the U.S.S Pine Island AV-12 the Elks Lodge 2519 of Seminole. Robert was a member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel's, a member of Nitram Lodge # 188 F.&A.M., St. Petersburg, Scottish Rite Valley of Tampa, the Tampa Egypt Shrine, Shriners Legion of Honor. Surviving with his wife, Alma are 2 daughters, Debbrah Kay Bryant, Shawnee, KS and Connie Jean Faine, North Myrtle Beach, SC; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Milam, St. Petersburg; a brother, Paul (Denise) Wood, Rutherfordton, NC and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 with a Masonic Service at 10:30 am. Interment will follow with full military honors at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
