COOK, Ruth Plott 98, of Tampa, passed away April 20, 2013. Born April 11, 1915 in Canton, NC. She is predeceased by husband, Lt. Col. Philip M. Cook; parents, Jonathon and Mayme Plott; sister, Frances Upton; and brother, Jonathon Plott. Ruth is survived by daughter, Marlyn Cook and husband Ben Pethe; son, John P. Cook and wife Tricia; grandchildren, Brennan Calkins and husband Sam, Shana Ruth Cook and Kelsey Hill and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Breanne Calkins, Chloe Springer, Connor Hill and John Cook; and nieces, Mary Ann Plott, Carolyn Dixon and Jacquelyn Floyd. Ruth graduated Lakeland High School, after attending business school, Ruth was employed by Gibson-Plott wholesale grocers in Lakeland prior to her marriage in 1946. Ruth and Philip moved to Tampa and became members of Palma Ceia Baptist Church in 1954. She was a member of the DAR. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Thursday, April 25th at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave. Private interment will be in Lakeland.
