William J. O'BRIEN


O'BRIEN, William J. age 82, of Lutz, passed peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2013. William "Obie", as he was fondly known by his loved ones and friends, was born in Brooklyn, NY, to John & Mary O'Brien on Sept. 16, 1930. He was employed in the Banking Industry as a Assistant Vice President with Citi Bank of NYC, where he was in charge of International Affairs and Exchanges, along with Citicorp's International Data Center in NYC. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict where he served as a prison guard at Portsmouth, NH, and serving with the Marine Reserve Unit in Brooklyn and Bronx, NY, where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major, a honor held by few, after 31 years of service to his country along with being an active member of the Marine Corps. League locally and on a National level. He was a Catholic by Faith. Survivors include his loving family: his sister, Maureen; and brother, Harold; sons, James and William Jr. and his wife, Doran; three granddaughters, Erin, Kelly and Heather; and many who loved and knew him. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15th, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, (813)968-2231 from 1-3 pm.
