FIELDS, Lt. Col. Jesse Albert Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.) age 90, of Seminole, passed away peacefully, at his home, Thursday, March 20, 2014. Born Sept. 28, 1923 in Danville, VA, Jesse was the only child of Nina (Harris) Fields and Jesse Albert Fields Sr. He graduated from George Washington High School (Danville, VA) in 1942. He moved to Washington, DC and worked for the FBI before accepting an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1943. Graduating from West Point in 1946, he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Army June 4, 1946, and one week later married the love of his life, Nancy Lorraine Stovall. They were married 49 years, until Nancy passed away in July, 1995. Jesse had a 20-year career in the Army, serving in the Korean War, and stationed at posts in Ft. Bliss, TX; Ft. Sill, OK; Ft. Leavenworth, KS; Germany, Okinawa, and the Pentagon. He retired as a Lt. Col. in Sept., 1966. Jesse had two successful post-military careers, first as a stockbroker, then as a real estate agent. He also discovered a late-in-life talent as an oil-and-watercolor artist. He moved from Alexandria, VA to Seminole, FL in 1997. He is survived by his two children, Catherine Fields McCoy (Joseph) of St. Petersburg, and William E. Fields (Kelly) of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren, Megan Fields, Rebecca Engle, Andrew Fields, Rachel McCoy, Brett Miller, Susannah O'Brien, Riley Fields, and Kyle Fields; and 12 great-grandchildren (with one on the way). Friends may visit with the family at Brett Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, from 4-5:30 pm, with a memorial service planned for 5:30 pm.
