McCARTHY, Carol Ann of Spring Hill, entered into rest on June 1, 2014. Carol was an accomplished artist and her influence in the art field has spanned many levels. Her passion for the arts brought her to the North Rockland School District where she taught art and was the art coordinator for 21 years. She also served as an academic liaison between the school system and the BOCES program in Rockland County New York. In addition, Carol taught undergraduate Art History courses at St. Thomas Aquinas College and graduate level Art History courses at City College of New York for many years. In addition to many educational contributions, Carol was the founder of the Art Teachers Association of Rockland County, New York and served as president for five years. She was also a member of the Westchester Watercolor Society of New Rochelle New York and the Arts in Public Places group of Rockland County New York. Carol is survived by her loving husband, Franklin; 3 daughters, Carol McCarthy and Nancy McCarthy both of Spring Hill, Susan and her husband, Jerome Rodriguez of New York; one son, Brian McCarthy, MD and his wife, Sharon of Glen Lakes; two sisters, DeAnn and her husband, Ronald Lazarow of Naples, and Mary DosSantos of New York; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Carol was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Gaultieri; and brother, Douglas MacLean. Friends may visit at the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill on Wednesday, June 4, from 4-8 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 5, 11 am, at the St. Frances Cabrini Church Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill.
