JOHANSSON, Birger Osten "Bia" "Bill" passed away at age 91.5 June 12, 2014. Born in Bohuslan Sweden Aug. 26, 1922. Wife of 59 years, Evelyn Johansson pass-ed away 2007. Formerly of Richmond Hill Bethpage Long Island, NY. Retired to Port Richey in 1985; survived by his nephews in Sweden and Mildred Sandberg and many friends. Birger worked as a carpenter and painter and immigrated to the USA at age 20 and joined the US Army in 1942. Assigned to the 10th Mountain Division and trained at Camp Hale, CO, transferred to the 99th infantry battalion separate as a skitrooper a special unit to invade Norway. He was also stationed in Belgium, France, Germany, Normandy. He was a life member of VASA Orden Lindbergh Lodge #505 NY and Sons of Norway. A visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home; a Funeral service will be held Friday at 10 am and he will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. www.michels-lundquist.com
