THARIN, Robert M. Sr. 90, passed away July 2, 2014. Predeceased by wife, Ruth, he is survived by daughter, Patricia Gehring (Sam); son, Robert Tharin Jr. (Irene); grandchildren, Dan and Randy Shaneyfelt, Jonathan Tharin (Concepcion), Antonia Harvey (Adam); great-grandchildren, Julieta and Lorelei Tharin and Drake Harvey; sister-in-law, Nancy Wheatley; many nieces and nephews. Born in Clearwater he spent his life in his beloved hometown of Dunedin. After serving in the Army Air Corps in WWII and graduating from the University of Florida, he owned Tharin & Miller Real Estate and Insurance, a family business for over 60 years in Dunedin. He served as president of the Dunedin Rotary Club and president of the Clearwater-Largo-Dunedin Realtors, where he implemented the first MLS Service in Florida. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved traveling in his motor home with Ruth and relaxing in their cabin in North Carolina. He loved sailing the waters off Dunedin in a succession of ever larger sailboats. He was an avid historian of the Dunedin area and volunteered with the Dunedin Historical Society and the Dunedin Library. In lieu of flowers, you may give donation to Suncoast Hospice. Memorial service Sunday July 6, 4 pm at: Dobies Funeral Home, Tarpon Springs.
