BIERCE, James W. of Port Richey, died at the age of 92 in Naples, FL July 29, 2011. He was born in Ottumwa, IA, son of Charles S. and Gertrude Frances Bierce. He married Eloise Martha Wilson on Aug. 10, 1938. He came to Port Richey in 1977 from Annandale, VA. He was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1974. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 10th Armored Division under General Patton and he served as the past President and was Secretary of the of the 10th Armored Division Veterans Association for over 20 years. He was a member of the Government Printing Office Alumni Association, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. Jim was also a member of the Pearl of the West #146, The Scottish Rite, Valley of Tampa, the Egypt Shrine Temple of Tampa and a Past President of the New Port Richey Shrine Club. He was a member of Community Methodist Church of Holiday. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Frances Ryan and her husband Timothy; two granddaughters, Jennifer Knutowski and her husband Jason, (they are expecting his great-grandchild) and Patricia Ryan. Both granddaughters are enrolled in the University of Florida. Jim was a devoted Gator fan. Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Celeste and brother, Charles, and by his wife of 55 years, Eloise M. Bierce. Funeral services to be held at Faupel Funeral Home in Port Richey, with viewing on Friday evening, Aug. 5th from 6-8 pm and services on Saturday morning at 9:30 am followed by interment at Memorial Gardens.
